& efficiently), professionals are reliable, and they will keep their
promise in order to get their job done. If there’s a serious or immediate react
on situation, they have to manage it as quick as the expectations in order to
do their best which were also delivering on their promises to their company. Honesty, the professionals provide with
high qualities result with their honest. They are able to be trusted because
they are professional. They never compromise their values, and will do the
right thing, even when it means taking a harder road. More on that, a true
professionals are humble. Even the project or job is out of their scope of
expertise, they’re not afraid to admit on this. They will immediate ask it for
help when they request it, and they’re willing to learn from it and others. Accountability, the professionals are
holding themselves accountable for their any action of what they do, such as
word, promise, agreement, especially when they’ve made a mistake. This personal
attribute is close to honesty and integrity, also act as a vital element in
professionalism. Self-regulation, the
professional’s work are highly difficult and that’s their mission on it and
this will make them to stay under pressure. So, some professional will make
self-regulation by maintaining a calm, take a nap, have a tea to relax then
back to work. A genuine professional’s show respect for the people around them,
no matter what their role or situation. They exhibit a high degree of emotional
intelligence (EI) by considering the emotions and needs of others, and they
don’t let a bad day impact how they interact with colleagues or clients. Image, professionals are not show up to
work with sloppily dressed, with unkempt hair. They’re polished, and they dress
appropriately for the situation. Because of this, they exude an air of

of utilitarianism

What
is utilitarianism? Utilitarianism rests on what is known as the “golden rule”
of workplace ethics. According to this rule, an individual is responsible for,
and concerned with, the well-being and happiness of others. The golden rule
holds that ethical individuals are those who avoid causing harm and seek ways
to help others. Utilitarianism is therefore concerned with actions that produce
benefit and avoid harm. There are two basic types of utilitarianism that are
applied in the workplace: rule utilitarianism and act utilitarianism. Rule
utilitarianism concerns itself with fairness, while act utilitarianism is
concerned with doing well for the benefit of others. A rule utilitarian, for
example, looks to benefit the greatest number of people though the most just
and fair means. An act utilitarian chooses the most ethically correct action
for the benefit of people. For example, CASE
1: Assume that a hospital has four people whose lives depend upon receiving
organ transplants, a heart, a lung, a liver, a kidney. If a healthy person
wanders into the hospital, his organs could be harvested to save four lives at
the expense of one life. So as a professional, in order to get his/her jobs
done, he/she will take the person’s live to save the other four life. This
would arguably produce the greatest good for the greatest number. But since
they are the professional with the professionalism, they were knowing that they
were wrong in the ethical method but meanwhile they are been respected since
they saved the other lives. CASE 2: A
huge IT company project that conduct with 5 person of professional people as
the lead. But as one of them, you found out one of them steal some project’s pc
component and sell it to known sellers. As a team member of it, you realize
that if you report him, he might lose his job and no one would recognise his
certificate and professionalism because of the case. As in the professionalism,
the professional are able to be trust and reliable, the possible solution with
the rule of utilitarianism is try to communicate with him to stop it and told
him this act is bad and think about the others.
