Last century was marked by television becouse it can bring to us a pice of the world. Today, we can go there and get that pice by our selfe.


The internet made the world smaller and it is going to get even smaller when we started to use internet as much as possible. Internet is a fast growing media and it is just the metter of time when we all will be connected.


Internet is a new and powerfull media and I have conduct the research paper to see where are we (Croatia) in all this.


Research paper include primary and secondary research about internet business.


Doing my primary research I tryed to find out who use the internet and how do they respond on internet adveritsements.


Secundary research included an survey made by GFK center for market research.


Their survey contains informations about how many people in croatia have access to the internet and how do they use it.


This survey was made in 2001 and it included 6034 persons betwene 10 and 74 years of age.


I included two more research about business on the internet.


eMarketer made na research about business to business transactions on the internet.


Other one is a survey about leading industries whitch advertise on the internet.


Other resources I used are from internet presentations and magazines specialized in e-business.

2.0) Internet marketing
This study is is going to present internet history as well as our percentage in internet comunity today.


Main idea is to show that this is the time to step in and make a difference.


Internet gives the little man chaince to succede.


Sir Isac Newton once said:
If I have been able to see farther than
others, it was because I stood on the
shoulders of giants.


That giant is internet and it can make things possible.


We just need to start using it properly. Every one can earn money useng internet onley thing you need is to use your imaginaton and have some couradge.


2.1) Internet hisotry
It all started in US durind the Cold War.
Internet is desined to be endless network for comunication all over the world.


1968 DARPA ( Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency) made a contract with BBN ( Bolt, Beranek & Newman) to create ARPAnet. It was a network connecting military bases but later on it get commercial.


1970 first five connections was made. It was UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, U of Utah and BBN. The number of computers have grown rapidly, first there was UNIX based computers later on personal computers started logging on the net.


This grow inspired the programers to develop a protocol called TCP/IP
( Transmission Control Protocol Internet Protocol ).


This protocol ables the computers to exchange data.


The history of todays internet starts in 1990 with World Wide Web.


Bernes-Lee with his team started the iniciative to make the data exchange more manageable. Now we could see the document and work with multimedia data (sound, pictures, movies).

Becouse of this changes new format was developed HTML (Hipertext Markup language) today we knows it as web page, also there is a new protocol HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol).
First web browser with graphical background was MOSAIC and it was made by Marc Andreessen who later founded company called Netscape.


2.2) Television vs. Internet
TV is the leading media for advertising but internet is going to change it all.


Difference betwene TV and Internet is that TV contlols the information and decides when it should be provided to their viewers.


Unlike the internet who provide us with informations 24 hours a day all we have to do is to go and get it.


This kind of approach is very important to the new age marketing.


TV is still the main media for advertising becouse of its abillity to manipulate.


Scientists say that picture and sound can make you do anything.


The main disadvantage of TV is that it has time limits.
Today that problem is solved by internet.


Now ads can be focused on a very specific group of people that would be interested in advertisement.


The internet ads are more effective becouse it provide us with a choise.


When we watch TV and commercial pops up we get annoyed and we lose interest.


Internet works a bit different it shows us the commercial somewhere on the web page but it leave us a choise of watching it.


If a person spots an advertisement that interest him he will explore it but if it doesnt he can simply go on with his work.

From this chart we can see that leading internet advertisers are placed in web media, financial services and retail business sector. This three sectors cover 54% of the internet advertisers. This survey was done in a year 2004.

2.3) e-business
e-Business is a concept that includes all forms of business transactions and information exchange preformed on the internet.


In 70s the first money exchange via internet and in the 80s first data exchange, breaking point was in 90s when www was done.


E-business cut our business costs and made our business transactions more effective. Now is easier to access to the the companies info and we can manage data freely from every corner of the world.

This chart shows how internet revenue has grown from 1994-2002.


2002 internet had 605.60 million people on line. This is a big market for companies and it is just begun growing.


Many companies does their business on internet but American business is ahead of the rest of the world. In 2004, worldwide e-commerce revenues are expected to total USD2.7 trillion. According to the eMarketer research, the US will account for over one-half of worldwide revenues this year.
In the end 2003, B2B e-commerce revenues in the US was total of USD721 billion. By the end of 2004, the US e-commerce revenues are expected to reach USD1.01 trillion. The report also reveals that 70 percent of companies have experimented with purchasing online, but less than 10 percent of their total spending is currently being channelled via the Internet.

Internet is just not safe enough right now. It is hard to protect our business from illegal access and violeting copy rights becouse you can log on anywhere in the world and have access.
2.4) Primary research
This survey contains the information provided by 14 people. This was field work done in Samobor.
Survey included 22% of people yunger than 18 years, 50% from 18 till 30 years, 14% was betwene 30-55 and 14% was older than 55 years of age.


Mens made 64% of population and womans 44%.


57% of the people have access to the internet and 43% have used internet on a few ocations, onley 14%uses internet every day.


On a question what do they think about internet advertisements 36% of population said that they think that it is usefull, 21% doesnt bother them and 28% doesnt trust them and as tha main reason is fear of pop ups and viruses.


The most popular ads are with sex context 50%, 21% are games, business is 14%, music and other share 8% of population.


From the last question we can see that TV is still the number one media presented with 64%, yunger population gaved their vote to internet.

3.0) Conclusion
Internet is endless it gives us opportunities that we are not aware of at this time. Future will show what the internet is capable of.


This research parer is done so that it can show that it is the right moment to step in and make a difference. Internet has grown and become big but this is just a biggining.


Croatia in 2001 had about 480.000 people on line in age betwene 10 and 74.


Croatia is stil recovering from the war and things is starting to get better but it has to pass some time to get back on track.


Internet marketing is still a new discipline that needs to be developed properly.


Yunger generations will tourn the world up side down usenig internet technology.


This is a gold mine ready to be digg. Today anyone can make a fortune even kids who never worked before.


You can earn money with clicking on ads becouse internet advertisements are charged by clicking. People started business that provide you with a information what ads you must clilk to earn money. They will pay you specific sum of money with every click you make and that money will be transfered directly to your bank account.


This example shows you that everything is possible onley thing you need is to use your brain. If you have time try something make it your hobby. Investment is minnimal, risk is minnimal and profit can be, who knows. You have a market place with over a one billion potential customers use it maybee you succeede.
