Inherited from my mother, I have had an artistic sensibility ever since I was a child and was certain all my life that is the path for me to follow. Bright colorful images in illustrated storybooks and exquisite typefaces always intrigued me. It is only during my undergraduate studies at Pearl Academy New Delhi did I study and understand the fundamentals of Graphic Design and its components.Even though my course was as broad as Fashion Media Communication, art, design, photography and film studies formed an eminent part of my curriculum. With the help of my assignments, I took a keen interest in the concepts of design and its importance in our community and how it forms a part of our day to day lives. After completing my course I started working with Dorling Kindersley (DK), a British multinational publishing company specializing in illustrated reference books for adults and children. As their tagline suggests Better with Design I started putting my knowledge from college to practical use. From designing spreads, templates, to book covers and gaining wisdom about the industry.I learned the values of teamwork, meeting deadlines, working on my own initiative, and about the various graphic programmes used such as In Design, Photoshop, and Illustrator. After a year and a half of working there, I was shouldered with more responsibility. It gave me an immense sense of achievement to have worked on a project in the capacity of a senior designer as well. I learned a lot about the influence of type and image in enhancing visual communication. It was very rewarding to see my work in print and my name hail on the imprints, it made me believe that design is something I want to pursue in the future. However, I wanted to push myself further, specialize and learn more, which led me to the decision to take on the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship for Masters in Graphic Design. In the course of my master’s programme, I would want to hone my design sensibilities and skill set, help form an individual style and build a strong portfolio which will enable me to have a successful career. I look forward to becoming a confident person filled with life experiences which will open a plethora of opportunities. I believe gaining exposure from studying in a country like Hungary which is influenced by art, diversity, design, and culture, my knowledge would only be elevated as a visual artist. My experiences at your prestigious university will give my aspirations of being a successful graphic designer flight. I would see myself as someone who would want to give her bit to society and bring about a change in my surroundings through the medium of design.
