In time ever, two tributes will be allowed

In The Hunger Games  the author Suzanne Collins tells about Katniss Everdeen, one of the main characters and how she was forced into the Hunger Games, and taken from her poor, coal mining town of District 12. It tells how she got food, how she feels about District 12 and the Capital, and how she survived the Hunger Games. The setting of this story is in the country of Panem which sits on what was once North America in an unknown time in the future. Panem is divided into 12 districts and the capital. Most of the districts are poor except for the Capital. The Capital is located in the Nevada and Colorado area. The Capital is often laughed at by the other districts, although; it is the most powerful, because of its odd fashion styles. District 12 is the most poor of all the districts; It is a coal mining district and the citizens are mostly left to fend for themselves. District 12 sits in the modern day area of North and South Carolina up to mid New York state. The sea level has risen so much that most of the coastal cities are underwater. The main characters are, Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, Gale Hawthorne, and Haymitch Abernathy. Katniss Everdeen is the main character of the story, and is the one that you follow throughout the book. She lives in District 12 with her mom and sister, and often has to illegally hunt to get food. Peeta Mellark is also from District 12 and is the male tribute next to female tribute Katniss Everdeen for District 12. Unlike Katniss who volunteered, Peeta was chosen to be the tribute. He is a very nice person, and he is in love with Katniss which plays a major part in the story. Gale Hawthorne is Katniss’ hunting partner and best friend. They both often sneak out of the gates around District 12 to illegally hunt to provide for their families. He works in the coal mine, like Katniss’ dad, and he also is a baker at his parents bakery. Haymitch Abernathy is an ex-tribute who survived. He is an alcoholic and is Katniss’ mentor for the Hunger Games. She does not really like him because he is a jerk, and his house is a mess. The major turning point in the story comes when the Capital announces that for the first time ever, two tributes will be allowed to win. For all previous Hunger Games there could only be 1 winner. The tributes would have to fight all the other districts then in the end would have to fight each other. The winner in the end would be rewarded with immunity from all the Hunger Games for the rest of their life, a mansion, and tons of food and money. Two tributes were allowed to win because the Capital wanted to add some romance to the Hunger Games to keep people interested, and to keep them from rebelling. This plan works and makes a lot of people in the Capital happier. In the end Katniss and Peeta survive the Hunger Games, and they have been given mansions, money, and food for winning the Hunger Games. They keep up the romance act so that they are not punished by the Capital for their trick. They are taken back to district 12 on a train and Katniss eventually finds out that Peeta wasn’t acting. The Capital was very mad at the winning tributes, and they had to act like all the things they did wrong was because they love each other, even though they were trying to show defiance to the Capital. I think this book was very original because, no other book like this one was made before this book came out. Some book series’ have copied some of the Hunger Games’ idea like the Maze Runner. The Maze Runner has the same kind of idea just with a maze. In my opinion, when other highly successful books copy some of your idea’s, it means you have a truly unique and original story line. In conclusion, The Hunger Games is a very good and entertaining book. I would definitely recommend this book, as well as the other Hunger Games books to anyone who likes fiction books. The Hunger Games never got boring, and always had a new crazy thing happening every couple of pages.
