Developing had the intention to acquire freedom

Developing new lifestyles and comfort for the people was the genesis of the main philosophers in the enlightenment. Taking place in Europe, during the 17th and 18th century, happened to come across The Age of Reason, or in other words, The Enlightenment. During the Enlightenment, the philosophers, John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft within others had the intention to acquire freedom and equality. The Enlightenment encountered with preeminent people, the philosophers, whom developed ideas that happened to form a revolution, and change the world to become the society we live in at this very moment. The philosophers all had a similar intention which was to make a benefit for society by enhancing their own freedom, particularly of freedom in government, religion, economy, and equality of genders, which would make a better civilization.John Locke strongly believed in Individualism. He advocated that people have the right to be defended by the government, and not in the contrary be attacked by them. From Locke’s, Of the Dissolution of Government, It states, “they have not only a right to get out of a failed government, but to prevent it.” Locke (1632-1704) (Doc A) This evidence connects to Locke claiming everyone should be equal, and when the government is insufficient and unfair society should be entitled to make decisions regarding the government’s powers. Voltaire desired that the public should be capable to embrace their very own beliefs. Freedom of religion was his interpretation of an improved civilization and government. From Voltaire’s Letters Concerning the English Nation he mentioned, “If one religion only were allowed in England, the government would very possibly become arbitrary unrestrained; if there were but two, the people would cut one another’s throats; but as there is such a multitude, they all live happy and in peace.” (Voltaire, 1726) (Doc B) Voltaire is essentially stating that with abundant amounts of religions, everything is beyond enjoyable since society would be able to believe in what they want, and opposed to, if there were only a scarce amount of religions people would be, as Voltaire said, cutting each others throats.Adam Smith relied on the fact that their shouldn’t be capitalism. Freedom of governmental economy was his individual way into distinguishing a remarkable society. From Smith’s, The Wealth in Nation, he stated, “As every individual, therefore, endeavors as much as he can both to employ his capital money in the support of…industry, and so to direct that industry that its produce may be of the greatest value; every individual necessarily contributes to the annual revenue of the society as great as he can.” (Adam Smith, 1776) (Doc C) Society shall be competent to generate their own decisions concerning their economic activity, and so meaning individual freedom happened to be indispensable to a powerful economy along with that it would generate a better government. Mary Wollstonecraft believed that individual freedom should be beneficial for both genders. On ?National Education, she mentioned, “To render make mankind more virtuous, and happier of course, both sexes must act from the same principle;… women must be allowed to found their virtue on knowledge, which is scarcely possible unless they be educated by the same pursuits studies as men.” (Wollstonecraft, 1792) (Doc D) Wollstonecraft regarded gender equality and the fact that both men and women should have the same rights.Although the philosophers wanted to make a better society the conclusion approached to the philosophers perceiving that individual freedom was fundamental. Within those main ideas were freedom in government, religion, economy, and gender equality. These main Ideas developed by the philosophers enhanced the government.
